We are saddened to announce the passing of Larry Holmes, a valued and loved member of the Utah Rocket Club. Larry, along with his wife Carol and their son Dan, was an active participant in our community for many years before relocating to Denver to be with his family.
Larry's dedication to the Utah Rocket Club was marked by his passion for improvement and his thoughtful insights into its activities. He was known for his wit, often sharing humorous stories and jokes with fellow members. His contributions and friendly presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Outside of the Utah Rocket Club, Larry had a strong affinity for the Salt Lake Astronomy Club and the Utah Amateur Radio Club. His enthusiasm for these interests was evident in the cherished memories that his son, Dan, shared with us.
" I wanted to pass on that he loved the Salt Lake Astronomy Club, The Utah Amateur Radio Club, and the Utah Rocket Club. Some of my fondest memories with him are doing activities related to these clubs. He enjoyed everyone he met, and constantly talked and thought about next steps he wanted to do in pursuits of these pastimes. I wanted to thank everyone in these clubs for embracing my father and welcoming him to activities such as Hellfire, Field Day, and the observing nights at SPOC."
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Larry's family during this difficult time. His legacy within our club will continue to inspire us, and he will be remembered fondly for his contributions and camaraderie.
